Description
Illustration from “Cripplegate Ward” by J.J. Baddeley (1921), showing William Bassingham & Co, Gas Fitters and Brass Finishers. The building in the picture stood at the south-east corner of Beech Lane until 1865, with a frontage in Whitecross Street, seen to the left of the picture in sunlight. The business then continued trading from larger premises on the same site, listed in the 1921 business directory as 49-51 Whitecross Street.
